2298.0. "Novel & Microsoft Mail communcating to A1 for DOS & IOS?" by TENNIS::KAM (Kam USDS (714)261-4133 (DTN 535) IVO) Fri Feb 19 1993 20:00

Our Distributor has a customer, Bechtel, that lives within the VAX/VMS
and PATHWORKS environment. The are also running ALL-IN-1 IOS.

They have been distributing PC within their environment, approx. 600 and going
to 900-1200 within a year. They will eventually migrate to TeamLinks but cannot
because ALL their users are not using Windows. Therefore, they will be using
ALL-IN-1 for DOS V1.1.

I should mention that Bechtel supports customer within their facility and to
isolate their environment their Customer's Network Administrator choose to use
Novell.

Well wouldn't you know it they now would like to send mail to each other... and
their user's are frustrated because they can't.

I believe within the Novel environment they will be using MS Mail and MS Post
Office.

What is the gateway between MS Mail and the ALL-IN-1 for DOS and ALL-IN-1 IOS?

According to an article in the 8 February 1993 issue of PC week - Modular
mail gains popularity Microsoft's plan for modular e-mail won't interface with
Digital's ALL-IN-ONE until the 2nd quarter, I assume May-June 1993?!  I should
mention that the article is referencing Microsoft Mail 3.0 Client.

What can we offer that will allow Microsoft's Mail to communicate with ALL-IN-1
on both the PC and VAXes?

	Regards,

2298.1MSmail/X.400/MRX PossbilityMRALN1::DISMUKE_MOSat Feb 20 1993 00:036
    I think Microsoft has an X.400 gateway product. If true then shouldn't
    you be able to talk MSmail X.400 to MRX?

2298.2Try MAILbus PostmasterBER::BEOPC2::RAMMMichael Ramm @BEOMon Feb 22 1993 07:315
Take a look at the MAILbus Postmaster for LANs/WANs, Version 2 (SPD 36.59).
This product will support MS-Mail, I don't know when, but I think this
spring. Conference is on MRKTNG::POSTMASTERV2.
