2274.0. "Can Cab Put_pending be used to send to remote users?" by AIMTEC::SIMPSON_L () Tue Feb 16 1993 20:25

    Hello,

    Can the cabinet put_pending function be used to send mail to
    remote users?

    I have a customer who I believe is using ALL-IN-1 V3.0.
    He is trying to send mail from the local node to remote addressees.
    He does not however want to use mail send because he says it puts
    the postmaster in as the from address. So he is trying to use cab
    put_pending.

    He does a put_pending into the mailque record in the pending file.
    This works fine until the
    sender tries to send the message. Then he gets errors concerning
    passing the message to message router.

    Has anyone done this? Can it be done with put_pending?

    Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks very much in advance.

    Laurie

    Laurie,

    I think the customer would be better off trying to figure out why
    the From Address is set to POSTMASTER - certainly when I send you mail
    you don't see Postmaster as the From Address do you? There's a note
    about POSTMASTER as the from field only a day or two ago.

    P.S This is a Mail Call! (:==:)

    Regards,

2274.2Getting the details.AIMTEC::SIMPSON_LWed Feb 17 1993 19:5810
    Thanks Andrew,

    I'm trying to find out the specifics of where the message begins, where
    it goes, when the problem actually occurs, etc... I think this really
    is a mail issue as you pointed out.

    Thanks again.

2274.3Don't I just know this one :-(IOSG::TALLETTGimmee an Alpha colour notebook...Wed Feb 17 1993 20:068

    	If you send second class to an underscore address eg _IOSG::TALLETT
    	then the sender is the POSTMASTER. This is a problem on the project
    	I am currently working on and apparently a hard one to fix in
    	ALL-IN-1 :-(
