2239.0. "Missing MAIN Drawer" by BADDOG::KRUCKMAKA () Tue Feb 09 1993 17:20

I couldn't find a note that talks about this but if anyone can point me or
help with this I'd appreciate it.

A customer recently upgraded from 2.4 to 3.0. He has a VAXCluster
environment. At least one ALL-IN-1 user account this problem which is that
they do not have a MAIN drawer. They have a [.oa] subdirectory with files
and documents in it. Their FILECAB.DAT file is empty. I searched the
PARTITION.DAT file and can't find a record for them. They don't show up in
the drawer index either. However, if I try to create the drawer it says it
already exists. If I try to select the drawer it says it doesn't exist.

The question is how can I fix it? Also, is it possible to write a script
(or is their something) to verify all user accounts for this problem. This
customer has over 700 ALL-IN-1 accounts and they would like them verified.

Thanks,
Karen

    Karen,

    	From the ALL-IN-1 MANAGER account :-

    		<GET #OAFC_SEED_USER = "username"
    		<DO OAFC$PART_SEED

    	Check the log file (OA$LOG:OAFC$PART_SEED.LOG) for errors.

    Cheers,

    Iain.

re: .1

Thanks for the info! I tried to use the oafc$part_seed and the log file said
it didn't seed properly. The status was 0. I reran it with a trace and it
looks like the write add to the partition file is failing. I did a dcl search
on the file and the record does not exist. File protection and ownership are
ok. I'm confused. I've included part of the trace that shows the section with
the write. Am I missing something obvious?

Thanks,
Karen

2239.4Turn on FCS tracingCHRLIE::HUSTONTue Feb 09 1993 20:118

    Turn on teh FCS tracing, then try and re-seed the user, that will
    give you the FCS error.

    Tell us what that is and we can get on with the next steps.

2239.5Could it be the popular?AIMTEC::WICKS_AWALES 10 England 9Tue Feb 09 1993 22:0112
    i'm going to guess here that the error could be:

    "%OAFC-E-RMSERROR, RMS Error has occurred. Refer to extended status
    for RMS error code".

    i'd check that the [.OA] subdirectory does allow System Access
    you need S:RWE on the OA.DIR and its contents

    regards,

Sorry it took me so long to respond. Modem problems.

I turned on a trace for the FCS and tried the part_seed again. I don't know
much about the trace log but what I got from it was a status of 55803913 for
all server functions and a status of 558044550 on set/show partition functions.

In response to .5, I checked file protection on the [.oa] directory and it did
not have S:WRE so I set file protection and tried it again. Same problem.
The files in [.OA] look ok for protection.

There are no server log/error files in the sys$manager account. Shouldn't they
be there? There is logical name override for them.

Thanks,
Karen

    The server log file resides in SYS$MANAGER:OAFC$SERVER.LOG

    The log file from running the partition seeding resides in adifferent
    place : OA$LOG:OAFC$PART_SEED.LOG.

    RE .9

    There are no log files in the SYS$MANAGER account. This is what I
    thought was strange. The part_seed log in OA$LOG does exist. It shows
    a status code of 0.

    RE .10

    Sorry you have to keep repeating how to get the message text but I
    appreciate it.  I didn't see that in the documentation anywhere;
    however, I am using the bookreader and sometimes it's not as good as
    hardcopy.

    I still don't understand why the part_seed isn't working. The message
    that the drawer doesn't exist is valid since I'm trying to create it.
    I know it doesn't exist. Is there more I can check and/or try? I need
    to fix this one way or the other.

    Thanks,
    Karen
