2203.0. "IMPACT ON UPGRADING VMS TO V5.5-2" by HGOVC::GARYTAM () Wed Feb 03 1993 06:50

    My customer is currently using the following products:

    	VMS V5.4
    	MESSAGE ROUTER V3.1
    	FMS V2.4
    	ALL-IN-1 V2.3

    And my customer plans to upgrade the VMS from V5.4 to V5.5-2. However,
    due to the complexity of it's environment, the customer wants to just
    upgrade the VMS without upgrading the other products (will upgrade the
    other products seperately later). I have already found out that the
    following configuration was already certified by out IOSG eng on AUG/92:

    	VMS V5.5-2
    	MESSAGE ROUTER V3.2
    	FMS V2.4
    	ALL-IN-1 V2.3,V2.4-1,V3.0

    My concern is MESSAGE ROUTER V3.1 ? Would anyone confirm me that the
    following will work:

    	VMS V5.5-2
    	MESSAGE ROUTER V3.1
    	FMS V2.4
    	ALL-IN-1 V2.3

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Gary

2203.2It works but not supportedEWBV51::NAGURAYukiji Nagura /ALL-IN-1 CSC/Tokyo/JapanThu Feb 04 1993 01:1415
	Hi, Gary,

>    	VMS V5.5-2
>    	MESSAGE ROUTER V3.1
>    	FMS V2.4
>    	ALL-IN-1 V2.3

	This configuration does work, actually my internal system (EWBV51,now
      I'm writing this reply on this node) has the almost same software except
      VMS, FMS and ALL-IN-1 which are Japanese version, and MR V3.1B.
	*BUT* this is not a supported one. Message Router must be V3.2 if
      you (your customer) want support from MAILbus engineering.
