2196.0. "Can ALL-IN-1 display full text from VMS REPLY ?" by ZPOVC::SINSPS () Tue Feb 02 1993 11:12

    Hi, my customer wish to send broadcast messages from VMS REPLY command
    to users who are in ALLIN1.

    The problem happened for those messages sent which exceeded a single line.
    That is the 2nd lines and above of the messages were not displayed in
    ALLIN1 screen.

    Is there any way to customize ALLIN1 to display the full text of those
    messages that exceed a single line ?

    Thanks.

2196.1User needs to press Gold-WIOSG::SHOVEDave Shove -- REO2-G/M6Tue Feb 02 1993 12:148
    Not that I know of.

    You could include in the first line of the REPLY message "Press Gold-W
    to see whole message" - of course, the users might see other stuff in
    the Gold-W buffer as well, which might confuse them a bit.

    Dave PS (before someone else jumps on you - please spell the product's
    name ALL-IN-1 with its dashes. Thank you.)
2196.2Use /BROADCAST_HANDLING qualifier to capture messageBUSHIE::SETHIMan from DownunderTue Feb 02 1993 22:2115
    Hi Dave,

    Using the $REPLY/qualifier/etc. "message", will display the message on
    the screen and only the first line. ALL-IN-1 does not interupt these
    broadcaste messages and trap them in the ALL-IN-1 message buffer
    (Gold-W).

    The only way to capture the message in the ALL-IN-1 messages buffer is
    to invoke ALL-IN-1 with a /broadcaste_handling qualifier,by doing
    so the broadcaste message is captured in the message buffer. Note all
    messages are displayed on line 24.

    Regards,

    Sorry Sunil, yes I should have mentioned that.

    I always run ALL-IN-1 with /broadcast, so I'd forgotten that it wasn't
    the default behaviour.

    Thanks,
    Dave.

    Thanks for both suggestions. Allin1/broadcast solved my customer's
    request.
