2161.0. "New files in user account V3.0" by ISIDRO::LOURDES (Lourdes Rebollar, EIS Spain) Wed Jan 27 1993 08:08

	Hello,

Could anybody tell us all the differences between a ALL-IN-1 user
	account V2.4 and ALL-IN-1 user account V3.0?

We have seen new files but, how many and which ones are the old
files which must be converted to a new format?

	Looking forward to your answer,
	Best regards

	Virginia Arevalo

PRODUCT: ALL-IN-1 IOS V3.0

OP/SYS: VAX VMS

SOURCE: Customer Support Center / USA

BACKGROUND:

With ALL-IN-1 V3.0 there are several new files which you will find
in a users ALL-IN-1 directory. This article contains a list
and brief description of these new files. For complete details refer
to the ALL-IN-1 Management Guide.

INFORMATION:

New V3.0 data files which reside in a users ALL-IN-1 directory:

FILECAB.DAT - this is a new file added as part of the ALL-IN-1 users
file cabinet (only one per user). It is the master
file of the file cabinet. It contains a list of the
drawers (both private and shared) in this users
                  file cabinet.

Initially it contains only the users default MAIN
drawer. Then as drawers are added to the users file
cabinet, either private drawers created or shared
drawers using the Add Drawer (ADR) option from
Drawer Management, they are added to this file.

MAIL_ACCESS.DAT - this file is used to determine who has access
to this users mail which is defined by the
new Grant Mail Access (GMA) functionality.
The file will be empty, the ACLs associated
with this file are set accordingly to control
                  access to this users mail.

OANICKNAMES.DAT - this file stores the users nickname (NI) information
in V3.0, this file has been renamed from the nickname
                  file NICKNAMES.DAT in previous versions.

OA$TEMP.DIR - this directory holds temporary copies
of files created by formatting and printing
operations. Files in this directory are deleted
by the Empty Wastebasket (EW) housekeeping procedure.
This directory is defined by the process logical
                  name OA$TEMP.

Znnnnnnnn.DIR - there will be one subdirectory for each new drawer
(ie [.ZTSTJEQH0]) created by the user. The directory name is generated
by the ALL-IN-1 system. These subdirectories will
contain the file cabinet files ACCESS.DAT, DOCDB.DAT,
                  DAF.DAT, RESERVATIONS.DAT along with
the [.doc0] - [.doc9] directory structure to store
documents created in the corresponding drawer.

All documents created in the MAIN default drawer
are stored in the document directories which reside
                  in the users ALL-IN-1 directory.

ACCESS.DAT - this file is now a part of the users file cabinet
(along with the DOCDB.DAT and DAF.DAT). It is used
in the implementation of access control to a drawer
owned by this user. the file is empty, the ACLs
on this file are set accordingly to allow the
granted users the appropriate access to the drawer.

Each drawer sub-directory, as well as the ALL-IN-1
directory, will contain this file to store corresponding
control access information on that drawer.
The file found in the users ALL-IN-1 directory
                  contains drawer control access information
on the users default MAIN drawer.
The control access for drawers is defined in the Drawer
                  Access Management (DRM) sub-system.

RESERVATIONS.DAT- these files contains information about which documents
in the associated drawer are currently reserved.
Documents may be reserved explicitly by the user
or internally by ALL-IN-1 during certain operations
which utilize the File Cabinet Server.

Each drawer sub-directory, as well as the ALL-IN-1
directory (which contains the MAIN drawer), will
contains this file to store corresponding
                  reservation information on that drawer.

The OA$TEMP directory is not just used for formatting and printing
operations. It can be used by any sub-system or application which needs to
create temporary files. For example, GPC in ALL-IN-1 V3.0 also uses it.

The files in directory can also be deleted by a user with the FC DTF
option.
