2159.0. "Personal Dictionary Full (v2.4)" by GIDDAY::BURT (Chele Burt - CSC Sydney, DTN 7355693) Wed Jan 27 1993 00:45

Hello and Greetings,

I have cross-posted this in ye olde WPS-PLUS conference, but have had no
response as yet. Perchance someone here could assist?

Customer running ALL-IN-1 V2.4 with WPS-PLUS V3.1 (British)

One user, with 3096 words in her dictionary, experiencing problems when
spell-checking a document.
When she attempted to ADD a word to her dictionary, she received the error
"no personal dictionary available, use PASS or IGNORE". When she chose IGNORE,
the error appeared "personal dictionary full".
(I thought the limit was supposed to be about 12000 words?)

Well, we tried the following things:
Saving dict to a new doc, deleting dict, deleting wplang & wpldict,
personal.lgp, username. pst, then file cab reorg, create new dict from saved
version.
No difference.

I ended up asking the customer to rename the existing personal dictionary &
copy it, in 2 halves, to 2 other dictionaries.
The user can now add to her personal dictionary, but it seems a bit brutal.

Are there any alternatives? What is the REAL limit on the number of words that
can be held in the Personal dictionary?

Thanks & regards,

Chele

You're probably still more likely to get this answered in the WPS-PLUS
    or linguistics conferences.

Have you tried formatting the dictionary?

Hiya,

>> Have you tried formatting the dictionary?
Yep, that's how we know how many words there are...

I'm still waiting on a response in the WPS-PLUS-V3 conference,
so I thought I'd try in here too, in the hope that someone had an
"instant answer" - just add water".

Regards,

Chele

Hiya,

Just in case anyone is wondering, what we ended up doing was to create a new
dictionary, bundle the old "personal" dictionary into it, and wipe the
"personal" dictionary to enable words to be added to it. The old words are
still available in the non"personal" dictionary, but can't be added to via
spellcheck.

Still, if anyone has any "hard" information on what the word limit is under
ALL-IN-1 V3, the customer would like to know.

Thanks & regards,
