2154.0. "Xferring documents from WPS to A1 ..." by TAV02::CHAIM (Semper ubi Sub ubi .....) Tue Jan 26 1993 10:42

We have a customer who until now has been running WPSPLUS/VMS V3.1 and has been
convinced to migrate to ALL-IN-1 V2.4 with WPSPLUS V4.0.

An ALL-IN-1 account will be created for each WPSPLUS user.

What will be the most convenient method of xferring the existing documents for
each of these users?

I have considered copying the DOCDB.DAT and renaming the DOC0..9.DIR from
[.WPSPLUS] to the new [.A1] directory.

What would happen if we asked ALL-IN-1 to create the ALL-IN-1 directory in
[.WPSPLUS] (which already contains a DOCDB.DAT and DOC0..9 directories.

Thanks,

Cb.

Chaim,

The script OA$LIB:WPCOPY.SCP should do what you require. It should be run
from the MANAGER account, once for each user. I think it is documented
somewhere in the Management Guide, but I'm not sure where.

I had considered this as well, but I figured that it would be faster and less
space consuming (since WPCOPY will make copies of each document - of course
once the copy is completed the manager can delete all the extraneous
documents) to merely copy the DOCDB.DAT and rename all the DOCx.DIR files to the
A1 directory (the A1 directory will be under the same root as the WPSPLUS
directory).

Do you see any pitfalls in using this method?

Thanks,

Cb.
