It would be nice if ALL-IN-1 would return the entire contents of a rejected mail msg back to the originator via the use of a "switch" - perhaps a logical (OA$MTI_RET_CONTENTS). Since ALL-IN-1 accounts are easily accessible from more and more mailers and the Internet, this would be a handy feature. Extracted from NOTE 1471.1 of the FORTY2::MAILBUS conference: >However, if it's ALL-IN-1 which issues the non-delivery then it will never >return the contents. ALL-IN-1's delivery mechanism was designed before X.400 >was defined, so decisions then were taken on pragmatic rather than 'legal' >grounds. So if you send to <misprint @a1@node> you cannot get your content >returned. > >ALL-IN-1 is always undergoing 'improvement' so I'm sure they'd be delighted to >hear any request for better functionality! Consider this such a request. Tnks Randy B.

2153.1 | A switch is a good idea for sure! | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Tue Jan 26 1993 08:41 | 7 |
It's good that ytou suggested this should be switchable. Perhaps it should also be switchable on a per message basis, since with the increasing tendency for people to send huge PostScript files around, andperhaps soon images too, returning the whole lot when it fails is a bit expensive in network traffic.
