2130.0. "MESSAGES DISAPPEARING ??" by MLNTSC::DALPORTO () Wed Jan 20 1993 12:41

Hello,

A customer of our has ALL-IN-1 V2.4 with several hundreds of users. Since a few
months he laments that some times the file containing the text of a message
disappear. After many and many attempt to isolate the trouble, it seems that
there is at least one specific folder of a specific user wich can reproduce
the problems as follows.

Let's suppose a user USERA with the suspected folder FOLDA.
A user, i.e. USERB send a message to USERA; USERA reads the message, archive
the message in FOLDA, delete the READ folder and the WASTEBASKET. Now USERB
deletes the original sent message.
At this point USERA can't read any more the message archived in FOLDA.

In a similar way: USERB send to USERA wich archive the received message in FOLDA
and delete the message in READ folder. USERB dosn't delete the sent message.
After that USERA delete the message in FOLDA.
Now USERB can not read the sent message even if present in the index of his
SENT folder.

Running the TRM procedure, it creates a dummy record in SDAF.

Have you any suggestion about this situation? what can we look at?

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Augusto

    Hi,

Are you patched up to date?

What do you mean by "archive the message in FOLDA"? Do you mean use the
archive option, or some other command?

    Cheers

Hello,

sorry for the inaccuracy of my information.

As "archiving message" I was meaning "Filing Message", that means the FM option
(form EMFDOC).

ALL-IN-1 is version ITALIAN v2.4 BL8C4 8-MAR 1991.

Thanks,

Augusto

    Hi,

This sounds like a "usage count" problem where the count of references
to a document in the shared area is incorrect. We believe that all such
problems are now fixed, BUT you must be patched up to date. So you need
to get all the K60n patches on board.

    Cheers
