2128.0. "Access denied from SVC with Wordplus document" by HGOVC::GARYTAM () Wed Jan 20 1993 06:37

    I have a customer using ALL-IN-1 version 2.3 and she has the following
    problems:

    1)	When she uses SVC from the DT menu to send a Wordplus document, she
    	receives an error message as:

    	"OA-I-LASTLINE you cannot use this option with this file type"

    	She did see the document is WORDPLUS type from SH. I have tried the
    	same thing myself in my machine with V2.4, it just works fine.
    	Would anyone explain me why this happens ? (It seems to me this is a
    	common function and should not be different between V2.3 and V2.4)

    2)	The customer has a text attachment from PC, and when she reads this
    	attachment in VAX, there is no line break in the attachment. When
    	she does "DIR/FULL attachment_file" at DCL level, she sees the file
    	record attribute is NONE. Would anyone help me to enable the line
    	break in ALL-IN-1 (using CONVERT/FDL ... is not possible for the
    	customer's environment).

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    Gary

2128.1Not a V2.3 messageIOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2Wed Jan 20 1993 10:419
I can't find the message:

    	"you cannot use this option with this file type"

in the V2.3 OAMESS.MSG file. Are there any customizations to the DT
sub-system?

    Richard,

    Sorry for giving you a wrong message. The exact message is as below:

    "DX_DOCNOTFGN You cannot use this option on this document type"

    and the customer has confirmed that the above message can be found
    in V2.3 OAMESS.MSG file.

    Once again, thanks for your help and looking forward to your reply.

    Regards,
    Gary

2128.3Data type has to be FOREIGNIOSG::NEWLANDRichard Newland, IOSG, REO2-G/L2Thu Jan 21 1993 11:1410
I've looked at the V2.3 version of DXSV.SCP and this requires that the data
type (DSAB) of the document is FOREIGN to do a SVC operation. This
explains why the customer is getting the message.

The SV, SVC, RV and RVC options were extensively modified in V2.4 and the
requirement that the data type had to be FOREIGN was removed.
