2082.0. "Network Master File <-> DDS Synchronizer tool?" by EEMELI::SALMINEN (I'm just a singer in an ALL-IN-1 band) Thu Jan 14 1993 14:55

One customer asked me for a tool program to synchronize his
ALL-IN-1 NETWORK MASTER FILE and MAILBUS DDS SUBSCRIBER
network address bases.

They have several ALL-IN-1 nodes (v2.3) using NETWORK MASTER
FILEs and one cluster which is running DDS also. They run
weekly Network Update & Network Purge and are quite happy
to this network file mechanism. (I have made small corrections
to the scripts&procedures because v2.3 ALL-IN-1 has some
errors there). They don't want to upgrade to v2.4 neither
to v3.0 which is another long story.

They don't want to take DDS into use in the other nodes
but only in the cluster node, where it is required for
the X400.

The "synchronizer tool" should provide the following services:

1. First build the cluster's DDS Subscriber base from
the clusters NETWORK MASTER FILE (which also contains the
network addresses of the users of the other nodes).

2. Secondly they want that modifications done to the
NETWORK MASTER FILEs are upgraded to the DDS base also.

I'm wondering if someone has written this kind of tool or
perhaps we even have a suitable asset product?
I don't want to invent the wheel again.

Best Regards,	Hannu
