2079.0. "Failed to rename account ALL-IN-1 directory." by KERNEL::SALMONJ (Jason Salmon) Thu Jan 14 1993 09:14

Hello,
I have a customer with the following problem in ALL-IN-1 3.0

She is trying to rename some accounts she does :

ADM
MUA
SEL the relevant account
Edits it
DOES :
                RNA

sh then gets the error :

	Failed to rename account ACCOUNTNAME
Failed to rename account ALL-IN-1 directory.

After this :

UAF has original name
VMS account has new name
ALL-IN-1 profile has both.

Can't find anything in stars to match this .

Directory to be renamed has RE access
64000 blocks are available on disk
She is trying to rename to the same disk not another one.
The names are different and there aren't any similarly named accounts on the
system.

Does anyone have any ideas as to where I should be looking next ?

Look at the log file, OA$LOG:OA$RENAME_username.LOG (where username is
    the old ALL-IN-1 name).

There should be some kind of error message in there.

2079.2What were the new names?IOSG::THOMPSONThu Jan 14 1993 12:376
Did she attempt to rename both ALL-IN-1 and VMS accounts? - if so what was
the new VMS account name?

She can't find any error messages in the log.
The original VMS name was RBAKER
The original ALL-IN-1 account name was Robin Baker

The new VMS name should be ONE
The new ALL-IN-1 name should be STAGE ONE

Apparently it is only this one account which is now affected.

    Hi,

I had exactly the same problem on one of our systems, and it was caused
by the directory being a logical pointing to a logical. When it checks
the directory spec after renaming the VMS directory, it trys to check an
un-translated logical with the translated logical - gets a mismatch and
stops the rename leaving, it in the state you describe.

It might not be the same problem - but its worth taking a look!

    Regards
    Caroline.
