1986.0. "queue management and identifiers not being removed" by YUPPY::DEWINTER (Chocolate?, Yeah!) Thu Dec 17 1992 16:51

Are there any known problems with queue management that I have missed
    up to now?

During my teach this week we had lots of problems with the identifiers
that were put on the queue for manageging purposes. When we applied an
identifier (through the menu options obviously) and removed it again,
it would not be properly removed from the queue and therefore the
control privilege on the queue didn't change. We tried this with
single control on separate queues and complete control over all queues
and it happened in all these cases that the identifiers were not
    properly removed or changed?

Is this known behaviour or am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks for any help.
    Regards,
    Arjen

Hello Arjen,

We have no problems open against QMA. Can you give more details of what you
mean by "...we applied an identifier ...and removed it again,...". When you
give someone queue management authorization, they become members of a queue
management group. The group identifier is placed on the queue. It is not
(as I recall) intended to be removed when a single member is removed from a
qm group.

Cheers,

    Dave,

    Thanks for replying.

The problem I described occured for a single user. Through the normal
menu's we gave a user privileges to monitor/control a queue. This
worked fine. Then we took, again through the menu's, this privilege
away, and it still was allowed to control/monitor that queue. (And we
logged the user in and out to reset privileges, but that didn't seem to
matter.) We tried it both with a single user on a single queue and a
single user on all queues, but encountered the same problem.

1986.3few exploratory questions..IOSG::TYLDESLEYTue Dec 22 1992 10:549
Hello again Arjen. Few more questions I'm sorry!
. can you reproduce the problem now on a system where you are?
. was it one specific user or several?
. did you check e.g. through Group Services, whether the user was
removed from the queue management group?
. were there any error messages when you did the RMQ of the user from
the management group e.g."Error found deleting ACE or ACL"
    Hartelijke gefeliciteerd (or something similar!)

1986.4sorry YUPPY::DEWINTERChocolate?, Yeah!Mon Jan 11 1993 16:5118
    Hi Dave,

sorry to have been so long, but I've been on holiday in the mean time
and have only come back today.

At the moment I haven't got a system to work on so that will make it a
bit difficult to answer your questions. As far as I can recall none of
the things mentioned by you was happening. It all happened during a
demo during the course. I'm sure they weren't removed from the group
and there were no problems with the ACL. The strange thing was that you
could get it to work in both ways, but you couldn't just change it
    afterwards.

I'll try again next week, when I have a V3.0 system available.

    Thanks for your help anyway.

1986.5User Queue ManagementLARVAE::DARRALL_DDurelli, Gripping Stuff !!!Mon Dec 13 1993 17:0822
I seem to be noticing some problems along similar lines.

I have a user who does not appear in in any management group according
to IMG in QMA. Yet is in a group according to Group Services.

If I try and select individual queues using the ASQ option I go into a
    tight loop.

I have set the user up to manage all queues and he does pick up the two
identifiers (one oa$user_qm and the one that as been applied to all
queues on the system). He then goes into UQM forms, does and index of
queues and then a <next screen> and again the process goes into a tight
    loop.

Also is there any way of removing the identifier from the queues on the
    system ?

    This is a 5.5-2 system.

    Any ideas anyone ?
