I have an ALL-IN-1 IOS customer (600 users) that is currently designing his future office strategy. He has evaluated different solutions primarily for the PC platform and therefore also TeamLinks. He will continue to use ALL-IN-1 IOS for some users which gives TeamLinks some credits ! On the other hand he has power to phase out our environment if he doesn't find what he is looking for. He is very interested in office solutions that can provide him with stronger archiving facilities than ALL-IN-1 and TeamLinks are able to deliver today. His organisation generates about 5-700.000 documents per year and it is essential that documents can be accessed on-line for at least 2 years. He has several times asked me if there was a way that the index facilities in ALL-IN-1 could be expanded with more fields for reference numbers etc. The reason was that he was interested in starting up using standard ALL-IN-1/TeamLinks archiving facilities and later on decide what to do ! We have also talked about ALL-IN-1/TRS (if it's still alive) as a solution, but then we are missing the PC (TeamLinks) client. He knows that there is a lot of special archiving applications avaliable but on the other side he prefere solutions where large amount of document archiving is a very integrated part of the office environment, - something I believe we miss in our office strategies. Can anyone give me a hint of how to solve this case ? Could ALL-IN-1/TRS be a solution ? Rgds, Rune Gottschalk @DMO Public account group, Denmark

Consider developing an archival system based on VTX Text Retrieval System as the repository. This will give text retrieval capabilities across multiple platforms with quite a bit of flexibility. Should be a fairly simple matter of programming ;^). Seriously, with the document volume that you are considering, somethin of this sort is necessary. Check out the VTX conference for work going on in this area (toolkits, etc.). Good luck, dh | |||||

Thanks for the hints about using VTX. I did try the TRS conference but it seems that the ALL-IN-1/TRS development team got the axe ! ALL-IN-1/TRS was by the way a U.S. product with hardcoded messages etc . . . Rune |
