1983.0. "SMU NOT WORKING FOR ONE USER" by NEWOA::WILSON_S () Thu Dec 17 1992 11:17

    Hi,

There appears to be problem using SMU to one particular user. I've checked
    the file protection

    A1.DIR;1 [CRITCHLOW] (RWE,RWE,RE,R)

    DOC0.DIR;1 [CRITCHLOW] (RWE,RWE,RE,E)
    (IDENTIFIER=[HFJ,WILSON_S],ACCESS=READ+WRITE+DELETE+CONTROL)
    (IDENTIFIER=[HFJ,WILSON_S],OPTIONS=DEFAULT,ACCESS=READ+WRITE+DELETE+CONTROL)

but still get "You have not been granted mail access by this user",
    even though the GMA shows

                                              Process Send
User or Group Mail Mail Control

      WILSON_S Y Y Y

    So what have I missed?

    Hi,

    Some things to check:

    1. Can you can the drawer to your File Cabinet? (Option ADR from the
FC DRM menu)? Is so type R from the DRM menu and see what drawer
access you have - you should have at least DELETE access.

    2. A common problem is lack of World execute access on the directory
chain. As the other user (CRITCHLOW) go to the FC DRM menu and
select the MAIN drawer. Type R to read. If this is a problem then
it will be shown on the drawer report.

    3. From DCL check the access to user CRITCHLOW's MAIL_ACCESS.DAT file.

    Cheers

1983.2WORLD ACCESS NECESSARY?NEWOA::WILSON_SFri Dec 18 1992 11:1144
    Stuart,

    Thanks for the information.

I've modified CRITCHLOW's top level directory to have World Execute and
it's working. What I don't understand is that why my WILSON_S.DIR does
not have any world access, but others can use SMU to my account without
    a problem.

    Drawer name MAIN

    Description

    Directory DISK$USER1:[WILSON_S.A1]

You have CONTROL access to the drawer

Drawer is shared with other users

WARNING - The following directories do not have W:E access:

    DISK$USER1:[000000]WILSON_S.DIR

Drawer is located on this system

    Drawer type is ADVANCED SHARED

Previous to adding W:E I could not add CRITCHLOW's drawer.

    CRITCHLOW's MAIL_ACCESS.DAT file is empty.

1983.3Group access?IOSG::MAURICEIs there life on IOSG?Fri Dec 18 1992 15:459
    Hi Sarah,

Looking at .0 I see that your directories and files tend to have group
access, so if the other users are in the same UIC group they will have
no problem. Is this the case?

    Cheers
