1937.0. "More V2.3-V2.4-V3.0 difference ???'s" by SANFAN::BRENNAN_JI () Thu Dec 10 1992 01:43

Hi, I have a customer who just asked the following few questions. They
are somewhat tedious but need to be answered in order to move them from
V2.3 to V3.0. Please answer or point me to notes or documents that
    will. Thanks very much.

    1. What timeframe (dates) were ALL-IN-1 V2.3, V2.4 and 3.0 first
shipped? (Thisis to ehlp them understand the age of the products)

    2. How long does Digital reasonably expect to support V2.3 and V2.4
        2 years? 5 years? forever?

    3. What are the changes to Time Management since V2.3? (Is this
       documented etc...)

    4. Is there a V2.3 to V2.4 differences document similar to the
"Changes to Fucntionality" - Highlights available with V3.0 ?

    Thanks again,

    Jill

    another question along these lines...

    going from 2.4 to 3.0...
when we upgrade to 3.0 will users keep their reminders and
    appointments?

in past upgrades (2.3->2.4) some users lost reminders and appointments.
i notice that the form TM is not selectable in the profil for initial
    TM form.

    	thanks - ann

.1 is temporarily hidden as it accidentally mentioned a possible future
unnannounced product - sorry Dave Z.

To answer the first two of Jill's questions ...

    1) v2.3 (mar 89), v2.4 (may 90), v3.0 (apr 92)

    2) v2.3 will be supported until an official announcement is made by the
product manager and the necessary legal letter sent to customers
(Dupont still have a lot of sites at v2.3) - how or when this will
happen after the events of this past Monday is not something we know
or can discuss in this conference. One would expect v2.4 to be
supported for a long time into the future.

    regards,

I'll try answering a few of these. Andrew properly marked my .1
response hidden, and I've now removed my slip.

        1. What timeframe (dates) were ALL-IN-1 V2.3, V2.4 and 3.0 first
shipped? (Thisis to ehlp them understand the age of the products)

        v2.2 (August 1987?), v2.3 (June 1989?), v2.4 (July 1990?)
v3.0 early this year. I'm close on the first two. Someone will
        pop in with closer dates.

    2. How long does Digital reasonably expect to support V2.3 and V2.4
        2 years? 5 years? forever?

V2.3 is now supported by the US CSC on a best effort basis. No
problem reports are being sent to engineering. V2.4 will also pe
placed in this category some day.

    3. What are the changes to Time Management since V2.3? (Is this
       documented etc...)

Time management changes, for the most part, are undocumented. The
best source of information is STARS or this notes conference. If
you send me a mail message with specific questions, I'll be glad
        to assist further.

    4. Is there a V2.3 to V2.4 differences document similar to the
"Changes to Fucntionality" - Highlights available with V3.0 ?

Yes, part number AA-PAKDA-TE. It's about 50 pages.

        Hi Ann,

If the reminders and appointments were entered via the task menu,
they will work just fine. I don't know about entering them from
        the v2.2 interface.

The v3.0 upgrade removed all the obsolete v2.2 TM forms. You are
correct, a number of TM intial form choices are now gone.
