1898.0. "DECram ? 3.0 installation: Error in secondary activation" by UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERT (AJAX beats Feyenoord again and again) Fri Dec 04 1992 09:11

    Hello,

Installation of 3.0 on a system with "DECram for VMS" installed
    might fail with .....

    Building shared image modules
    Error in secondary activation:
%SYSTEM-F-PROTINSTALL, protected images must be installed

DECram reinstalls shareable images on the RAM disk and redefines

      "SYS$SYSROOT" = "$1$DUS0:[SYS1.]" (LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)
            = "RAMDISK"
            = "SYS$COMMON"
    1 "RAMDISK" = "MDA0:" (LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)
    1 "SYS$COMMON" = "$1$DUS0:[SYS1.SYSCOMMON.]" (LNM$SYSTEM_TABLE)

3.0 Installation does not like this.

The procedure sys$startup:ramdisk$startup, invoked during system
startup with CREATE as parameter, can be run with DELETE, which
should reinstall all images and redefine the logical.

    Regards,

Nah, just wanted to warn the community. I myself don't
like it when I spend a lot of time on a problem which is
reported by SPR by not known by me.

And Graham said in note 2775 of the 2.4 conference:

"it's unlikely that we'll fix this in V3.0, or probably at all, since we
have to satisy the alternate root problem. "

    Regards,
