1863.0. "tilde ("~") in TM causes problems" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Thu Nov 26 1992 18:09
Hello,
I have a customer who has nopticed the following with TM in V2.4 of
ALL-IN-1.
If you enter a "~" (tilde) in the purpose field when creating an
event, the recipiant, when trying to reply, will get garbled
information in the "Reply to Event" form. The DATE is missing, the
start time is wrong, the end time is what the start time should have
been, and the "~" is missing from the purpose field. In my test case I
put the "~" as the last char, but the client says it can be anywhere in
the PURPOSE field.
I could not find this as a known problem, is there a fix?
Derek Street.

1863.1 | Tilde is special in TM | SCOTTC::MARSHALL | | Fri Nov 27 1992 01:57 | 9 |
| The reason this problem occurs is that TM uses the tilde character as a
delimiter in the "ATTACHED FUNCTION" (ie the part of the mail message that tells
ALL-IN-1 it's a meeting request and not just an ordinary message). I guess
someone (naively) assumed that no-one would want to use a tilde in any of the
TM fields!
To my knowledge, there is no known workaround (other than "don't use tildes" :-)
