Hello, A customer has observed the following, and does not consider it a "feature". With ALL-IN-1 V2.4, when you changed the "Document Destination" for a document about to be printed, the "Print Style" would change to the one associated with that document destination if you tabed to the field. With V3.0, the "Print Style" remains the same as when you originally entered the form. (ie. style for previous printer type) He suggests that the users will not wish to have to change both fields each time they wish to change printers. I have told hime to submit an SPR, but is there an easy way to make it behave as it used to do? Derek Street

1818.1 | It's something like this... | SCOTTC::MARSHALL | Thu Nov 19 1992 23:24 | 16
If you leave the Print Style field blank (or erase its contents), then you get the default Print Style for the destination, the same as in V2.4. For subsequent print operations, the field will stay blank, until you explicitly put something in it. The Print Style field is initially blank in V3.0, so by default you get V2.4 compatible behaviour. You have to explicitly put something in the field to "activate" the new V3.0 functionality. Once "activated", it remains so until you explicitly turn it off by erasing the field. This seems sensible; if ALL-IN-1 kept blanking it out after you put something in, it would be annoying: "But I *told* ALL-IN-1 that I wanted to use that Print Style, but it's erased it and used the default!". (CF: imagine if OA$CURMES was undefined every time you went into ALL-IN-1!) Scott
1818.2 | It still does if you leave the style blank | IOSG::NEWLAND | Richard Newland, IOSG, REO1-D/4A | Thu Nov 19 1992 23:53 | 20 |
In V3.0 the Print Style field is displayed with its previous contents, which can be blank or a print style. This is different from V2.4 when the style field was always displayed blank. The reason for this change was so that user's who normally want to print to the same destination with a non-default style do not have to keep typing it in. It was felt that this was much more likely in V3.0 because styles allow many more options to be changed (I think it was 2 in V2.4 and is about 33 maximum in V3.0) and also user's can create their own styles. We did preserve some aspects of the V2.4 behaviour. If user's normally want to use the default style for a destination the style field should be left blank. In this case a different destination can be typed in and its default style will be used without having to enter the style field. The V2.4 behaviour can be restored by customizing WPPRINT and WPPARG.
