1807.0. "Print settings not stored with document" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Wed Nov 18 1992 17:08
Hello,
I have a client with V2.3 of ALL-IN-1, who does the following:
wp, p, <next screen>, pl, set top margin, <cr>, ss, 0, p
Which enters Word Processing, goes to print, sets top margin, saves
settings in area zero, and prints the file.
The problem is, that when he goes to print the same document, the top
margin is not what he set it to, and to make it that way, he has to
re-change it, or restore settings saved in zero.
Should it not maintain the settings, or use the ones saved in zero?

| Are you saying that only the WPS-PLUS top margin setting is not being
saved, or that all the WPS-PLUS print settings are not being saved?
Two possible reasons for WPS-PLUS Print Settings not being saved are:
1. A non WPS-PLUS document is being formatted with the WPS-PLUS formatter.
For example, a document has a handling of STANDARD ASCII which means
it's an ASCII document which is WPS-PLUS formatted. Since an ASCII
file is incapable of storing WPS-PLUS Print Settings they are not
saved.
2. You are printing a message or document which is in the shared area.
Since the user does not have write access to the file it is not
possible to store the WPS-PLUS print settings. The user is allowed to
change the WPS-PLUS print settings during a print operation but they
are not saved.
The saved zero Print settings are used when WPS-PLUS creates a new
document. They are not the default Print settings used by the WPS-PLUS
formatter.
