| Did you run the CART resolution procedure? There's over 400 elements
marked there with status code A. This means that they are obsolete
elements which are no longer included with the kit. The resolution for
these elements is to delete their records from CM$SDC, thus cleaning up
your system.

1802.3 | Any FT kits? More Examples? | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Wed Nov 18 1992 15:05 | 7 |
| How did you get from V2.4 to V3.0? Did you install any Field Test
Baselevels?
If not, could you give me a few examples of ones that are wrong, and
I'll go and investigate what might have happened...

1802.4 | WPS-PLUS v4? | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | Liverpool 4 Norwich 1 | Wed Nov 18 1992 17:30 | 12 |
| GAP,
By coincidence we took a v2.4 machine to v3.0 just this week - not one
that went through lots of FT baselevels (and yes we ran the CART)
Apart from LNGSPLINI there's SHOW_LIPS, lNGSPLCONVERT, LNGSPLDEL
(basically the spell checker stuff) though this system is also
reporting some duplicate FCS blps (we had WPS v4 and TCP on it!)

| Graham,

Upgraded from V2.4 (K602/no OAW024) to V3.0 PBL123A.

I just ran the following script:
GET #FILE = "CM$SDC.LIS"
TEXT_FILE OPEN OUT #FILE /WRITE
FOR CM$SDC DO -
GET #REC = .%WHOLE\\ -
GET #SPEC = .DISK_LOCATION\\ -
.IF FILE$.%WHOLE[#SPEC] EQS "" THEN -
TEXT_FILE WRITE OUT #REC
TEXT_FILE CLOSE OUT
GET #FILE=#REC=#SPEC=""
It found 139 elements! I double-checked against the CART report, and
they weren't in the A section. Most of the ones I have looked at are
the BRITISH one of a SHARE/BRITISH pair of the same name, so it might
be a hangover from when the element was I18N'd.
The listing is too big to include here, but if you like I will mail it
to you. Please don't spend valuable time on it - I was just being
pedantic. I'm well known for that down here! :-)

1802.6 | Is this a clue? | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | Liverpool 4 Norwich 1 | Wed Nov 18 1992 23:42 | 8 |
| GAP,
On my system the list of elements appears to be a subset of
the list of files in OA$LIB_SHARE:DELETE_OBSELETE_FILES.COM

1802.7 | A hangover from V2.3? | SIOG::T_REDMOND | Thoughts of an Idle Mind | Thu Nov 19 1992 08:58 | 11 |
| Were either of the systems being discussed here upgraded along the
following path:
V2.3 --> V2.4 --> V3.0
The reason I ask is that elements have been moved (normally from the
language area into SHARE) at each of these upgrades. The CART tries to
take care of elements moved for V3.0, but some may be hanging around
for V2.3. At least, that's the current theory.

| I have finally found out that our system was a fresh V2.4 installation,
not an upgrade from V2.3

1802.9 | More elements, I'd like to remove them ... | ZUR01::KURTH | Peter Kurth @RLE, Rmlang (CH) | Wed Feb 03 1993 13:17 | 22 |
| Ciao
ALL-IN-1 V3.0-1 (1. German, 2. English).
Upgraded from V2.4 (up to K605).
CM ABE SEL (CM$SDC) shows three records for SM_SHUTDOWN.COM, for ENGLISH,
GERMAN and SHARE.
The file only exists in OA$LIB_SHARE.
The procedure OA$LIB_SHARE:DELETE_MOVED_FILES.COM deletes
SM_SHUTDOWN.COM from the LLV directories (called from A1$POSTINSTALL.COM).
It seems, nobody removes these entries from CM$SDC (it's not
CM_CART_SCRIPT_V30*).
Has this problem been SPR'ed?
What would be the manuall tasks to remove the entries from CM$SDC and
any other related place in CM (sorry, I'm not a CM expert)
Thanks and regards, Peter

| The record is probably there because it was moved in V2.4. Delete the
(German) record manually and all will be well.
