Hi folks, Could someone just confirm something for me. A customer is trying to use the CABINET ATTACH_DOCUMENT function to attach documents to a WP document. However not only is the original a WP document it is in a shared folder ie [SHARED]folder. It all appears ok in the owning account but from the sharers account you can only see the original. And an SH in the sharers account reveals no reference to attachments. I take it that it is because the cab$attach dsab only looks at extended attributes, which means the pdaf of the owner of the document, in this case. And presumably accessing shared folders from a sharer account does not look at the daf in question. So basically, is what they are attempting, valid? regards Alan Crooks UK CSC.

1758.1 | You need shared drawers. Shared drawers need you. | IOSG::MAURICE | Hex 20 traveller | Wed Nov 11 1992 16:45 | 13 |
Hi, I'm afraid shared folders do not provide the functionality you want. When a user accesses a document in another user's shared folder then only the DOCDB attributes are available, not the DAF ones. Attachments are recorded as DAF attributes. So the answer is to refile or copy the document to a shared drawer, and then all attributes, including attachments will be available. Cheers Stuart |
