After our test upgrade of ALL-IN-1 V2.3 to V3.0,I got the error "error opening ALLIN1$1:[ENGLISH.SITE_ENGLISH]FORMAT..." when doing a SH on a document. A new FORMAT was created during installation, and placed in the above location. V2X_FORMAT.DAT has the same file structure as the newly created file.Should the new file not have changed from 421 Byte records to 712 ? It still retains the 421 byte records. Regds Pat

Pat, You can recover from the situation by: 1) Restore the original V2.* format file from before the upgrade by renaming OA$DATA_LLV:FORMAT.DAT to [ALLIN1.SAV]FORMAT.DAT and OA$DATA_LLV:V2X_FORMAT.DAT to OA$DATA_LLV:FORMAT.DAT 3) Make sure that there is ONLY ONE FORMAT.DAT file in OA$DATA 2) Run the format conversion script procedure: OA$LIB:FORMAT_UPGRADE to convert the file to the new V3.0 format. 1756.2 | FORMAT.FDL in SITE Area? | IOSG::PYE | Graham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's Apprentice | Wed Nov 11 1992 17:58 | 9 |
You've probably got a version of the FDL in a SITE directory which contains the old record length and is being used in the conversion. Get rid of it before taking Andy's advice. Graham PS Andy why do extracted STARS articles have very long lines (I've now fixed it BTW) |
