1741.0. "NUMBER_UP problem in V3.0" by WOTVAX::63790::Doran (Confuse-a-cat Ltd) Mon Nov 09 1992 13:33

Hello all,

When printing to a printer that supports Postscript from ALL-IN-1 V3.0, you
get the opportunity to specify the value of the parameter NUMBER_UP.
Unfortunately ALL-IN-1 only allows a value between 1 and x (where x is
specified by the system manager).

The problem with using NUMBER_UP=1, is that the printout has a border round
it. As NUMBER_UP=0 is supported from DCL, why can't 0 be supported from
ALL-IN-1?

Cheers,

Andy

If you leave the "Number Up" field blank, you get the desired result.

The parameter validation for ALL-IN-1 V3.0 was based on CPS V4.0. The CPS
V4.0 manuals and DCL Help for Print_parameter both say that the NUMBER_UP
value can be from 1 to 100.

The CPS V4.1 Product Specification says the NUMBER_UP value can be from 0
to 100.

The Print Settings forms could be customized to change the validation on
the Number Up fields.

That would be fine except when the printer itself has a default setting of
NUMBER_UP=2 (or similar). Leaving a blank simply takes the system (or queue)
default for this particular job.

I realise that the forms can be customized (and will probably do so). Will
the 0 be a valid value in a PFR?
