1688.0. "Obsolete files in Digital area" by KAOFS::M_MORIN (Le diable est aux vaches!) Thu Oct 29 1992 18:56

As a customer upgraded from ALL-IN-1 BEV 2.0, 2.1, then ALL-IN-1 V2.3, and V2.4,
they are now left with files in the ALL-IN-1 CBI directory that date back as
far as 1984.

Questions is:

Do ALL-IN-1 installations cleanup up obselete files from the ALL-IN-1/Digital
Area directories?

In pre-V2.3 BEV and US version days, there weren't any SITE areas. What
happened to obsolete files when customers went to V2.3 and V2.4?

Also, do we have a list somewhere of what files should exist in all
ALL-IN-1 directories for any particular version?

Thanks,

Mario

"Code" directories (eg OA$LIB, OA$DO) are cleaned up in an upgrade. Well, they
are now, I don't know about Ancient History like V2.2 :-)

"Data" directories (eg OA$DATA) are not cleaned up, for obvious reasons!

Not as far as I know. However, it is possible to generate a reasonably complete
list from examining the kit contents. You could do this for any version, if you
can find a kit for that version! Plus of course we have all the info for the
current version here in engineering so that we know what to put in the kit! :-)

Previous versions did not delete obsolete files.

With a $dir /date oa$mumble it is easy to track old files.
All files of an ALL-IN-1 version have a "recognizable" creation date.
