One of our customers with a small network (5-10 nodes) would like to utilize the System Wide Nicknames asset over their network. They will write some additional program to propagte nicknames throughtout the network. It would work something like this: Assume user CHAIM on NODE1; NODE2 ... NODE10 exist in network. A SN on NODE1 is created; nickname= CB, Real Address=CHAIM Their program will then create SN nicknames on NODE2 ... NODE10 such that nickname= CB, Real Address=CHAIM@A1@NODE1 Can anyone see any reason why such a scenario will not work? Thaks, Cb.

Hi, Why don't you just use the NETWORK file and UA to do this? It would seem to provide more-or-less the functionality you require. OK, so it isn't what NETWORK was designed for, but if it works... Scott | |||||

Scott, We have thougt about it in the past, yet NETWORK.DAT do not support HEBREW names as their keys, while SN is fully translated to HEBREW. As you can imagine all the names in the network are hebrew names. (even the ALL-IN-1 user names is not translated, so SN is the only way to give hebrew names for address search in this intersting, yet sometimes bezare, country). Regards, Yariv |
