1650.0. "Cannot edit NAMED DATA!!!!" by KAOFS::R_OBAS () Thu Oct 22 1992 19:02

    Hello,
          ALL-IN-1 V2.4, VMS 5.4
       Customer is doing some development in CM. After creating the
    form, (DF) the form was saved. When tye try to edit the named data
    (they do not have WPS-PLUS) they use EDT/wpcorp.
      Whether a change was made in the named data or leave it unchanged,
    as soon as you exit from EDT, an error comes up ......

    File is locked on channel 3 for file DEVICE:[USERNAME.A1]FORMNAME.FLX
        at user pc 00000936
    File currenly locked by another user.
    One of the following keywords or statement items was expected...

      I tried to create form using AF and CF but I get same result. I used
    ADE, same result.
    The problem is system wide including ALL-IN-1 Manager.
    When I was doing the EDIT on the named data, I did a $sh dev/files
    on the disk it was complaining about the file being locked by another
    user but there's no such file.

    I put a $set verify on CM_FDNDEDT.COM, same error above only difference
    is the repeated error looked like this.

    %FMS-E-ILLINPCHR, Illegal character was input.

1650.1WordPerfect holding on to the file??IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeThu Oct 22 1992 19:1513
    When you edit the Named Data of a form, we run a little program which
    parses out the ND form the screen image, puts you in the editor, and
    then we run the program again to put the form back together again.

    It looks like the program is having trouble reading the intermediate
    files, perhaps because WordPerfect isn't releasing them for some
    reason.

    Try setting your editor to EDT and trying again. You only need to go
    into the ND and type GOLD/F so you don't have to know any clever EDT
    commands!
