1647.1 | FCM not part of the base | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | Braves Win, Braves Win, Braves Win! | Thu Oct 22 1992 18:12 | 14 |
| Sandie,
We like to see ALL-IN-1 spelt properly i.e all in uppercase.
It is my vague recollection that FCM was also part of either an ASSET
or a local customisation in your district. Presumably you have now
upgraded to ALL-IN-1 v3.0 and these customisations have been
superseded.
Perhaps someone else can remember a bit more about FCM.
regards,

| Hi Sandie,
You are correct in noticing that the former U.S. ASSET known by the menu
acronym "FCM" is no longer available after the upgrade to Version 3.0
of ALL-IN-1 on your internal system. This is because the most heavily
used FCM options, "SNF" and "RCF" have been superseded by the enhanced
functionality of Version 3.0's File Cabinet menu options.
As of Version 2.4, you could Index a folder, select ALL, then Forward
the folder's contents to anyone. The recipient had the problem of what
to do with what was sent - leave it as a single, long message or try to
break it apart into something meaningful.
Version 3.0 alleviates this problem by expanding the File Cabinet menu
options to include "FA" and "FAM". Thus, the recipient can now read
the message that contains the contents of someone else's Folder, then
from the "File Cabinet" menu, enter either "FA" (File attachment as
document) or "FAM" (File attachment as message) to file the folder's
contents as they originally were in the Sender's file cabinet, complete
with message header information.
As far as the "REMINDERS" goes, do you mean the Reminders functionality
that was in the ALL-IN-1 Time Management subsystem, through Version 2.3?
If you do, that was replaced by Events and Tasks in Version 2.4. To my
admittedly faulty/slipping memory, the AuntB O/A system did not have any
U.S. ASSET for REMINDERS ever installed.
Hthy,
Ron

1647.3 | Southern Area always ahead of the CSC! | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | Braves Win, Braves Win, Braves Win! | Thu Oct 22 1992 22:27 | 11 |
| Now if only we could get MIMS to upgrade to a version of ALL-IN-1 built
in this decade!!!!!!
...Ah now if it's the Appointments, Reminders etc old interface to
Time Management then even though that was superseded/retired in
ALL-IN-1 v2.3 the Interface wasn't actually deleted til ALL-IN-1 v3.0
so you could have been running the 2.2 interface under 2.4

| Hi &rew,
If you are interested (since some in the CSC/AT are trying to keep the
former ASSETS program alive in the U.S. of A. - thank you very much!),
I still have an online copy of the FCM kits, enhaced and I18N'zed, for
both Version 2.3 and Version 2.4 of ALL-IN-1. (I missed the window of
submission/acceptance by three days and, of course, _no_ EIC wanted to
sponsor FCM - what possible value could it have?!?!?)
Ron
P.S. There is yet hope for MIMS - stay tuned ...

1647.5 | New functionality only minimally useful. | ECCGY4::HAIGH | It's worse than that Jim | Wed Dec 09 1992 09:58 | 10 |

The problem with the options mentioned in .2 is that it files every
single attachment separately. So if on node X you send a collection of
say 8 documents, 3 of which have single attachments, when Fred on node Y
tries to use FA or FAM he ends up with 11 documents because each
individual attachment is filed as one document.
I don't think the FCM receive and send folder did this.
