1646.0. "Communications Control to Modem on Terminal Server?" by NIKKOR::ANDERSON (BIG RED FAN, Went to LITTLE BROWN) Thu Oct 22 1992 17:12

Has anyone used the COM facility to connect to modems on a terminal
    server?

If so, What did you have to do?

What was the setup for the LAT and VMS Terminal Setup?

What was the setup for the terminal server modem port?

    Thanks,

    Jeff

The COM facility is in a frozen time zone, which stopped round about
VMS V4.0, and at that time, outward LAT connection wasn't supported.

So you can only use COM to drive Modems which are directly plugged into
a terminal port on the processor box.

    Sorry,

Is anyone using other software to accomplish dial out access?

I was able to manual dial out of the LAT port, but found timing
problems in capturing all characters and displaying them on the
    terminal.

I have worked with a product called BLAST at another customer site. This
product had a similar but more robust script capability. I interfaced
this product to ALL-IN-1 but it was not a simple task to save
information back to an ALL-IN-1 document.

    Other suggestions or solutions?
1646.3MODEM or KERMIT?IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeMon Oct 26 1992 18:006
MODEM and KERMIT are commonly used packages.

I seem to recall that there was an earlier note in here, or the
previous version of the conference, about their use.
