1604.0. "Post-install tasks fail." by KERNEL::LOAT (Bored....Bored....BORED!!!!) Tue Oct 13 1992 15:09

    A customer has just tried to install ALL-IN-1 3.0 from scratch, and he
    hit a problem with the automatic post-install tasks.

    After it says it has merged the CM$SDC records, it says that it is
    setting the protection on files, and then he sees the following error:

    UAF-E-GRANTERR, unable to grant identifier OAFC$SYSMAN to SYSTEM.
    -SYS-F-NOSUCHID, unknown rights identifier.

    There is one copy of SYSUAF.DAT in SYS$SYSTEM, and there is no SYSUAF
    logical.

    Has anyone seen this before? Any ideas what could cause it? I'm going
    to suggest that he runs these post-install tasks by hand, but I need to
    find out exactly what is being done first, so can anyone point me in
    the correct direction so I can find this information out?

    Thanx

    Steve.

| 1604.1 | ALLIN1 == SYSTEM? | AIMTEC::WICKS_A | XYLANA: Hound of the Backslashers | Tue Oct 13 1992 15:20 | 9 |
|  |     steve,

    Do SYSTEM and ALLIN1 (deliberate misplelling) have the same UIC or does
    SYSTEM share with any other account.

    Shouldn't it be trying to grant the right-id to ALLIN1??
    Regards,

| 1604.2 | Granting to the installing account | IOSG::HALLC | Denser than a Black Hole Singularity | Tue Oct 13 1992 16:23 | 9 |
| | No it shouldn't be granting to ALLIN1 it should be granting to the installing
account.
It looks like Andy's right about the shared UIC though, I tested it for myself.
I would suggest re-running OA$LIB:A1$POSTINSTALL.COM from the SYSTEM account
when the duplicate UIC has been sorted out.
Chris.
