1567.0. "ACTITEM.DAT Program Access??" by NIKKOR::ANDERSON (BIG RED FAN, Went to LITTLE BROWN) Tue Oct 06 1992 17:29

Customer wants to have a Schedule Recurring Task function. (Similar to
    Schedule Recurring Event)

Question #1: Has anyone written one?
(Just trying the easy way first...)

I have the format of the ACTITEM.DAT file. I tried writing a FORTRAN
program to access it. I could not find the right OPEN parameters for
    the variable length format.

Question #2: Has anyone written a program to access ACTITEM.DAT?

If you have a program or code segment it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Jeff

Bring form AIE up onto a screen

    <FORM AIE

Press GOLD/V to see a list of fields and their lengths

Why use FORTRAN? A script will do what you want...

1567.2Date Functions?OMDEMO::ANDERSONWed Oct 07 1992 16:5510
The customer has FORTRAN, BASIC, and C. To write a option to calculate
the dates, I think I need access to VAX/VMS date routines. Am I unaware
of ALL-IN-1 functions to calculate dates.

For example, the user may want to create a task to check equipment on
every third Tuesday of the month for the next 24 months.

How would the script calculate the first date and then increment to
    find the others??
