1516.0. "Strange behaviour of custom template document" by GIDDAY::BURT (Chele Burt - CSC Sydney, DTN 7355693) Mon Sep 28 1992 04:34
Greetings,
Customer is running ALL-IN-1 V2.4 (unpatched)
Customer uses a locally created template document, then via index attaches
another document to it. The combined document cannot be read - it appears empty
When the document is EDITED, the first part of the document is there.
The customer cannot read the document from either WP or EM, but CAN print it
successfully.
A similar sounding bug existed under 2.3 (couldn't read attachment under WP,
but can under EM), but was reportedly corrected with 2.4.
I've had a look at the script & trace file, but had no luck spotting the
problem. (file can be found on
MSOTIS::DKA300:[BURT.PUBLIC.ALL-IN-1]TRACE_N_SCRIPT.PROB;1)
Regards & thanks for any assistance offered,
Chele

1516.1 | Is SFCP installed? | IOSG::NEWLAND | Richard Newland, IOSG, REO1-D/4A | Mon Sep 28 1992 15:47 | 22 |
| From the trace file I don't recognize the code as being part of a standard
ALL-IN-1 system. It looks like it is from SFCP because many symbols have a
prefix of #SFCP. I do not know how SFCP handles attachments.
The ALL-IN-1 File Cabinet model does not regard attaching as a combining
operation, but as a way of associating separate documents so that all the
documents can be referenced by a reference to the first document.
An Edit operation on a document with attachments only edits the first
document. This is done because the attached documents may have different
handling which requires using a different editor.
When you print a document which has attachments the main document and each
attachment are individually formatted.
If you want to combine multiple documents into a single document you should
use Gold-GET from within an editor.
