1504.0. "ALL-IN-1 to internet" by AIMHI::RAYMOND () Thu Sep 24 1992 16:16

    I have a customer asking what he needs to send mail from All-in-1 to an
    internet address. I know how to do it from VMS mail and was thinking
    there should be a way to do it for All-in-1.

    Can anybody help here?

    Thanks

1504.1All you need is a node with a gatewaySCOTTC::MARSHALLDo you feel lucky?Thu Sep 24 1992 17:0714
Hi,

If you can do it from VMS mail you should be able to do it in ALL-IN-1.

Just address the mail to the node with the gateway.

For example, I can send mail to: VBORMC::"[email protected]" in VMSmail
So in ALL-IN-1 it's something like: "[email protected]" @ VBORMC @ MRGATE
Or you could use _VBORMC::"[email protected]"

The only thing to beware is that pre ALL-IN-1 V3.0 everything might get
uppercased.

    Yes, doing it via MrGate as Scott suggests works for me - I use it all
    the time.

    Don't use the leading-underscore method unless you absolutely have to
    (i.e. if there's no MrGate anywhere). It gives rise to problems with
    replies.

1504.3How about SMTP from UCX 2.0?FZOVAX::WOOSLEYThu Dec 03 1992 18:046
    What if we do not have a gateway but want to use SMTP from UCX 2.0?
    Which address would be used via MRGATE or can some kind of a mailbox
    be setup to work?

    	I tried to get this working at DECUS in Cannes. One way that
    	seems to work is: _SMTP%then_the_usual_address
    	ie, you use the "_" to get to VMSmail, then use regular SMTP%
    	(similar mechanism to NM%) addressing.

    	Sorry I can't be more specific, but this snippet might get you
    	started.

    	When you get it to work, please post the exact syntax for others.

    Regards,
    Paul
