1492.0. "V3.0 Image Activation...Differences?" by RESTRT::LATIMER (New York Region Product Support) Wed Sep 23 1992 20:54

Is there any documentation available which might outline the differences
in the ALL-IN-1 initialization sequence between versions 2.4 and 3.0?
For example, x more files are opened at image activation time than were
opened in V2.4, etc.?

Any information would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Nancy

    Nancy,

    I know this is probably little help but things are kind of quiet in here
    post-Charlotte and the only way I could think of getting this info
    was using SET WATCH - this is not a scientific test you understand
    (:==:)

    I spotted some new accesses to TABLES.DIR, OA$TEMP.DIR,
    ATTENDEE_OVERFLOW.DAT, UQM and SITEUQM and some accesses that no
    longer take place such as EPM$SRVSHR.EXE, SITECM, CM

    Files like SITE$OA_SYM.A1$SECTION, PARTITION, FILECAB, ACCESS,
    OANICKNAMES don't open til you go to Mail and a whole bunch of files
    get opened when you go to CM that i'm not going to even list.

    The number of files appear to be about the same as does initilaisation
    speed but you'll see the additional v3.0 cost when you type EM or CM
    for example.

    Regards,

    Nancy,

    To see the list of all opened files :

    $ANA /SYS
    SDA> SHO PROC /CHAN ...

    might help.
