1481.0. "Need more information on memory usage" by NEMAIL::BYRNE (The Red Menace) Tue Sep 22 1992 23:00

I cannot get an answer anywhere on the following questions. Can anyone
help me? A customer is interested in ALL-IN-1, but wants to know the
following before he will consider purchasing ALL-IN-1:

	1. How much memory does the ALL-IN-1 3.0 image use?

	2. How much memory does each active ALL-IN-1 3.0 user use?

	3. How many processes does ALL-IN-1 3.0 use
		(aside from users' processes)

A few years ago the guidlines I was given for ALL-IN-1 v 2.2 were:

2 megs of memory for the image
1/2 meg of memory for each simultaneous user

I do not have access to a 3.0 system, so I cannot figure it out for myself.
This customer says he has asked over and over for this information and is
never given an answer. I promised him I would get it. I know about the
various sizing guides, but all they do is tell you how much memory you
should put on a particular processor and how many users/subscribers
will be supported. This is not enough for this customer.

Eileen,

See Section 5.2.2 of the ASE Performance and Configuration Guide. The
answers are there. See note 142.last for instructions on how to access
the guide.

With V3 you also get the FCS, this runs as its own detached process,
so in addition to the user process you need this process which runs
    as with SYSPRV.
