1462.0. "How to get ride of INBOX-contents?" by SWETSC::NILSSON () Mon Sep 21 1992 18:27

Hello

A collegue of mine has relinked a Multi-Language ALL-IN-1-system
with two nodes (v2.4 and VMS 5.5-1). Unfortunately he copied the
OA$LLVlang.EXE-files to SYS$SPECIFIC on one node and to SYS$COMMON
on the other node. This resulted in a mailmess. If a user had six
new mails in his inbox (three from before this relink and three
from after the relink) he could only see the three old on one machine
and the three new on the other.

After four hours, they discovered the disaster and did a correct relink.
All mails sent after this is working OK.

The problem is that if they do an index of INBOX they can see a lot of
documents in this folder but they don't exist. They can't be deleted
or moved. You recieve an error message saying that you have to choose a
document before deleting it even though they've just picked one from the
INBOX. The mailcount is OK (nothing in PENDING.DAT about this orphans).
Your DOCDB.DAT doesn't contain them either (the newly sent are all there).

How to get ride of them (or the record in some file)?? The information
about them must be stored somewhere!

Bye the way, he ran TRM and ROF, no luck!

Best regards,

Anna Nilsson, Stockholm.

    A guess...

    Are the mails in a Swedish named INBOX?

1462.2Use DOCDB to delete themIOSG::MAURICECeci n'est pas une noteTue Sep 22 1992 10:2113
    Hi,

    To get rid of the offending records type interactively:

    DOCDB

    On the resulting form enter the folder name and in the field labelled
    "fixer" enter the document number. The record should display and then
    you will be given the option to delete it.

    Cheers

    I'd just refile these document into the correct folder name.
