Somehow a customer has added entries to NETWORK.DAT which are lowercase. These can be selected when sending mail but cannot be selected via <FORM NETWORK, doing an index of SM MAD etc and cannot be deleted in whatever method, whether its using the form or doing a write change. We also tried creating a form which maps onto the same data file but which accepts lowercase values too, but this does not recognise the lowercase ones when it comes to delete them. How can I get rid of them short of edit/tpu and converting the file? Thanks julia

1447.1 | Use OA$SCROLL_ADDRESS... | HYTIDE::CREAMER | Say Goodnight, Charlotte | Thu Sep 17 1992 19:28 | 17 |
julia, If you're wanting to be real ALL-IN-1-ish with your solution, just: 1) Create an index form that binds to the records in NETWORK 2) Select the records that you want to delete 3) Run a script that loops through the selected records using OA$SCROLL_ADDRESS to access the records. This sounds good in theory but at this point I have neither the time nor the motivation to try it myself. I can't think of any reason that it wouldn't work. HTH, Jack | |||||

Julia, What about deleting the file and then running SMNETINIT and then the UA HK jobbie to repopulate it Regards, Andrew.D.Wicks |
