1443.0. "WARNING: Invalid VMSUSR field defined in profile" by CROCKE::YUEN (Banquo Yuen, Darwin Australia) Thu Sep 17 1992 11:01

    Hello

I found some warning message in the OA$SM_PRE_TEST_OF_FILE_CAB.LOG:

WARNING: Invalid VMSUSR field defined in profile of A1SHARE
WARNING: Invalid VMSUSR field defined in profile of MANAGER
WARNING: Invalid VMSUSR field defined in profile of POSTMASTER

I looked at the PROFILE.DAT, all the above three users has ALLIN1
as VMSUSR, and the VMSUSR field is pad with space. Actually there
are four ALL-IN-1 users pointing to VMSUSR ALLIN1, and their profile
    records look like that:

    A1SHARE ... 00ALLIN1 ....
    MANAGER ... 1ALLIN1 ....
    IVP ... 1ALLIN1 ....
    POSTMASTER ... 1ALLIN1 ....

I wonder what the two characters just before the VMSUSR stand for.
Because I look at some other ALL-IN-1 system, it seems that all
profile records with ALLIN1 as VMSUSR will have these two characters
    equal to " 1".

I have checked the UAF record as well and it looks OK to me.

    What's wrong ?

    Thank you very much
    Banquo.

    Hi,

Which version of ALL-IN-1 are you running? I think there was a problem
in V2.4 where this error would be reported if there was no identifier
for the account. This was a bug in the PT program, that has since been
    fixed.

    Cheers

    Stuart
1443.2Are these the fields?AIMTEC::WICKS_AIt wasn't supposed to end this wayThu Sep 17 1992 18:1311
    Banquop,

In v2.4 (but I suspect you might be at v2.3) the two fields in the
profile before VMSUSR are NOT$IN$USE and CREATE$FAIL for which the
'normal' values would be 0 and 1 I think.

How exactly are you looking at the profile?

    Regards,

    Hello

    The ALL-IN-1 version is 2.4 PBL8C3 7-JUN-1990 and the patch is K604.
And there are two identifiers for ALLIN1, OA$PRVAPP and OA$MAIN.

The way I looked at the profile.dat was using TPU editor. But then
why MANAGER will have CREATE$FAIL = 1 and other users are 0 ?

    Thank you very much
    Banquo.
1443.4Which ALL-IN-1 version?AIMTEC::WICKS_AIt wasn't supposed to end this wayFri Sep 18 1992 17:5914
    Banquo,

Not that it answers your direction question but I don't recognise
    that version id.

If you have the WPS-PLUS v4 option it should read
    ALL-IN-1 V2.4 BL8 27-Apr-1990 + WPS-PLUS V4.0

and I haven't seen anything else change the version id since so i'm
intrigued as to exactly which version you're running

    Regards,

"ALL-IN-1 V2.4 PBL8C3 7-JUN-1990" is the version message from the
original V2.4 distribution kit. As I understand it, the patches do not
change this message, although the WPSPLUS V4 option did.
