1436.0. "DNS$SHR.EXE / DNS$SHARE.EXE" by LJOHUB::MATHEWS () Wed Sep 16 1992 19:38

I've been reading through the ALL-IN-1 V3.0 Installation Guide Part 1
Base Installation book...and found an error that's had me going now for
    about a week...

    section 6.2.1 Installed Images

It calls for images DNS$RTL.EXE and DNS$SHR.EXE

I've found that there is no DNS$SHR.EXE image. Instead, it should
    	be DNS$SHARE.EXE

Just thought I'd mention it...in case anyone else frets over it like I
    did. ;-)

1436.1Why not call the CSC? we knowAIMTEC::WICKS_AIt wasn't supposed to end this wayWed Sep 16 1992 19:4511
    Jeremy,

Umm that's what the release notes are for.... the correct image names
are included though the error in the doc set isn't listed explicitily
    it is corrected in STARS.

BTW: You could have called the CSC and saved yourself a week.

    Regards,

Thanks Andrew...I read the release notes originally but don't remember
    seeing it. I'll cheque again.

And oh...it's not like I've spent the whole week doing nothing else but
fret over the dns$shr.exe error...I was multitasking other projects as
well. Why didn't I just call CSC? When I was in operator training
many years ago, one of the things they stressed was, that system
support personnel know how to do research, and find answers to problems
through their technical skills, docmentation, etc. That developing the
ability to trouble-shoot on their own, to find their problems, was a
great skill to master. I would have called eventually, If the DNS
notes conference didn't prompt someone to send me a mail message about
    the problem. ...which it did.

I prefer to save Atlanta/Colorado for my really 'last straw' 'I've
tried everything' phone calls...so they'll not be tied up with trivial,
simple questions...and maybe be able to more quickly, help someone in
    trouble, elsewhere.

A complaint has been made to the moderators of this conference about
the way in which some replies to this topic were removed. The
moderators are looking at the circumstances and trying to get
everything resolved without people losing their collective cools.

Let's all remember electronic etiquette. No-one should be insulted in
this conference, no-one should be offended by the contents of a note,
and everyone should try and help each other. Moderator behaviour
should be the same level as expected from other participants. I hope
we all live up to this.

    Thanks, Tony
