1432.0. "index/SRC privilege/GOLD S" by BIS1::CARTENS () Wed Sep 16 1992 16:00

When a user has SRC privilege (to enable GOLD S) and he does an Index,
then if he fills in a piece of the author name and does RETURN, he gets
a list of the mails by this author. Now when he fills in a piece
of a title (NOT the beginning) or a piece of folder name then after RETURN
    you get nothing at all.
Why don't the three fields behave the same ? I would like the first
    behaviour for all fields.
I know that when you do GOLD S, you get a list but it's not a list you
can work with as you have to select a document.

    Thanks for your ideas, Maaike.

This is an opportunity for you to customize ALL-IN-1. :^)

In the named data for the index form, change the "Beginning" or "="
to be "Containing" or "<=>" for the TITLE and FOLDER comparisons in the
RSE. You should then get the behaviour you desire. Note that performance
for "CONTAINING" is not as good as for "BEGINNING".

GOLD Search works correctly and as it has been documented since V2.0
(and before that if you count the keypad function in V1.n). In essence,
it allows a person to do recognition on any string contained in the field
you are trying to fill.

So, Gold S is extended recognition capability. Index forms use selection
criteria that you fill in. True, they are implemented differently. You
can change that if you need them to act the same. But they are distinct
capabilities. If the customer does not perceive them as distinct, you have
the opportunity to make them uniform in the customer's eyes.

Have fun.
