| Don't they come from the Postmaster's print settings?
I seem to recall that they always did in the past. and I wasn't aware
that we'd changed it.
Others will no doubt know better!

| Hi,
The Print settings will come, I think, from the user in whose context the mail
delivery is taking place.
For local first class or express mail, this will be the sending user.
For local second class mail, it will be the POSTMASTER account (or whatever
account is used to run the Sender).
For incoming remote mail, it will be the POSTMASTER account (or whatever account
is used to run the Fetcher).
However, it may be the case that the "system" default is used, rather than
any one user's individual settings. If this is the cse, you'll need to modify
the system-wide settings for the printers to be 8 lines per inch.

Scott, when you say "system-wide settings for the printers" are you
suggesting modifying the printer tables for all of the printer types?
If not can you direct me to the documentation for changing the
system-wide default print settings?
Thanks,
Doug

| Re: .0
You didn't say what type of documents you are printing or what type of
printers you are using. This reply assumes that you are printing WPS-PLUS
documents.
WPS-PLUS documents are by default formatted using the WPS-PLUS Print
Settings stored within the document. The WPS-PLUS Print Settings can be
changed by pressing NEXT SCREEN when the Printing Document form is
displayed.
When documents sent to the PAPER MAIL mail destination are printed they are
always formatted using the WPS-PLUS Print Settings stored within the
document. The printing is done in a batch job so there is no way a user
can change the WPS-PLUS Print Settings.
For PAPER MAIL messages will be printed to the user's default ALL-IN-1
Printer Destination as defined in their profile entry. For each ALL-IN-1
Printer Destination there is a field called the 'Format Printer type' which
defines the format for which listing files should be created.
A possible reason for PAPER MAIL being printed with 6 lines per inch is
that it is being formatted for a printer type which does not support 8
lines per inch. For example, you may be printing to an LN03 printer with
LP11 formatting which will result in all line spacing being at 6 lines per
inch.
Check the following settings:
1. Examine the default ALL-IN-1 Printer Destination for users with
a mail destination of PAPER MAIL. This is a per user setting so
you need to check all PAPER MAIL users.
2. For the Printer Destinations you find at step 1 examine the Site
Printers entries and check that 'Format Printer Type' is correct
for the type of printer.
Re: .1
The Print Settings do not come from the PostMaster's settings. In the past
PAPER MAIL was always ASCII formatted which resulted in the loss of
WPS-PLUS print settings. In ALL-IN-1 V3.0 WPS-PLUS documents will be
WPS-PLUS formatted.
Re: .2 and .3
There is no such thing as system wide default WPS-PLUS print settings.

| Hi,
Hmm, I think I'm showing my ignorance here. When I said "Print Settings" I
think I was referring to "print styles". Anyway...

Well, as it is their corporate policy to do all printing at 8LPI this would
seem a sensible thing to do!

As above, I think I should have said the default print style for each printer.
I think this is documented somewhere in the ALL-IN-1 books (sorry, I don't have
a set to hand to give an exact reference).
However, Richard's reply is infinitely more authoritative than mine!
