1349.0. "Help needed on VAXtel" by WELCLU::NICHOLL (Jeannie with the light grey hair) Wed Sep 02 1992 18:34

    Hi,

Can anyone point me in the right direction.

My customer has been running VAXtel for a number of years, realising
it is unsupported, but carrying on with it anyway. They have
recently moved their machines and are getting an error which the
customer support centre cant interpret as they dont have the
    knowledge or any documentation.

Is there someone I can talk to so I can assist the customer. By the
way, my customer is one of the largest accounts in the UK, so we need
    to help them out.

I can be contacted on 853 4348, or by mail @WLO.

I have faith in getting an answer through this conference.

    Thanks

    Jean

    Hello Jean,

There are a numbers of Stars artcicles about VAXtel in the OA1
database. Have a look at there authors/reviewers.

Perhaps Jill KERNEL::HOULDINGJ (who used to be Smith, ex-CSSE)
can help you... Don't mention my name.

    Regards,

It might be that Peter Short (London) can help you?? He used to know a
little about VAXtel in the early days....

Maybe there is a NOTES file (MAJORS::VAXTEL)?? It used to be moderated
by UKOSC::BRUNNOCK. Of course the node UKOSC (Office Skills Centre)
has long since gone!!, but I believe Andy still works in Reading
    somewhere.

Maybe if you show the error here, we can help...

Or else contact Sheila Steven @ BSO (8420-3999) and get her to ask for
a resource from the End User Computing Service Centre - there may be
    someone who knows something....

(If it involves money flowing from customer to Digital - I am suure we
    can find someone!!).

    Cheers, Chris
1349.3Actual Error MessageWELCLU::NICHOLLJeannie with the light grey hairThu Sep 03 1992 10:4116
    Hi,

Thanks for all of the pointers, I will follow them up today.

The error message is as follows:

Error 2 Reading from Telex Box
    %SYSTEM-F-HANGUP, DATA SET HANGUP

My own and the customers intepretation is that it is probably a
hardware fault, but we would like confirmation as to exactly what the
    problem is.

    Thanks again

    Jean
