1325.0. "%sys-f-badparam, bad parameter value" by WAYOUT::TALBOT (Trevor Talbot) Thu Aug 27 1992 18:28

Hi,

	I have a customer who has wordperfect on their v2.4 ALL-IN-1
system and for one time only a non-privd user has sent a mail to 2
local addressees and 2 remote addressees. The user cannot remember any
error messages being output at send time,but, the oa$mti_err log file
contains 10 occurances of the following error message:
%SYS-F-BADPARAM, Bad parameter value
	The SH output gives no MRid but gives a shared file location,
and the RMS file does exist. The RMS file is 0/0 blks big and is empty!
The local users can read the mail header only, the remote users didn't
even get the mail(surprisingly...since MRid is empty! :-)). The user
later re-sent the mail o.k and no problems for local or remote readers.
	The disk space/quota etc for postmaster/fetcher/sender/manager
and the user were all o.k. Can someone explain to me where the above
error message comes from and what is wrong?

Cheers

-Trev

1325.1Just a thought..IOSG::HALLCDenser than a Black Hole SingularityFri Aug 28 1992 11:1723
Hi there,

I can't be 100% sure about this since its been a long time since I was involved
in testing WordPerfect/ALL-IN-1 I14Y type stuff, but I seem to remember that
the sender would give the %SYS-F-BADPARAM, Bad parameter value error and ACCVIO
if the message had an empty cover-note that had been created with the WPCORP
editor.

So to put it another way, if the users default editor is WPCORP and he forwards
a message, but decides not to add a cover-note the Sender will have trouble.

I think it had something to do with the record formats of the WPCORP file?

Could this be an explanation?

I think sites used to get round this by add a customisation to ensure something
is always added as a cover-note when forwarding messages.

Perhaps my mumblings will jog the memory of someone with more technical knowledge.
Over to you Mr. Wicks :^)

Cheers,
	Chris.
1325.2Ah so you're still there at least!AIMTEC::WICKS_AIt wasn't supposed to end this wayFri Aug 28 1992 15:5110
    Dear Mr Installation,

    WordPerfect?, ALL-IN-1 v2.4? Sender/Fetcher?

    Nope sorry don't remember any of that stuff - guess it's SPR time
    so that a Mail expert can investigate it.

    Regards,

1325.3Still here? Why of course!IOSG::HALLCDenser than a Black Hole SingularityFri Aug 28 1992 17:0913
Andy,

Your memory is worse than mine! I can't believe it! Must be your age?

I thought this problem was discussed with WPCORP and they said they were going to
fix it or is that tele-conference a blank also. Unfortunately I cleared all this
old stuff out of my ALL-IN-1 account recently, otherwise I would probably still
have the minutes. The problem I remember was in the V2.3 integration kit so I
would have thought it was fixed in the V2.4 integration kit? On the other hand
perhaps its a completely different problem.

Cheers,
	Mr. Installation
