1321.0. "v2.3 to v3 upgrade" by MSAM01::SOWWAN () Thu Aug 27 1992 09:49

    Hi,
    	I am not sure if this is the conference for ALL-IN-1 V3.0 .
    	I have a customer recently upgraded from v2.3 to v3.0 and the
    followings are two problems he encountered :
    	1) when cm_cart_script_v30$english.scp is run,
    	   "FORM *CMMANAGERAREAS is not in the library" has been resulted.
    	2) when CM MBE is selected, "DEC/CMS is not installed in this
    system" displayed.
    	How does each of the messages mean and how to overcome them ?
    	Thank you!
    Regards.

1321.1CMS : prereq for merge...UTRTSC::SCHOLLAERTVivaceObjectTeamWorkLinks for IOSThu Aug 27 1992 10:0216
Hello,

DEC/CMS (Code Management System, part of VAXset development SW)
is used to perform the (MBE) merge function .
So, no CMS , no MBE. Quit expensive if you only need the merge.

By the way, I couldn't find any reference to CMS in the SPD/SSA, nor
Installation Guide.

    This is teh script that is created after running the CART yes?

    If so then it looks like it has some dependencies on CM having already
    been accessed and therefore initialized? Has it? If so has it been
    accessed as a MANAGER/Maintainer or just as a PROGRAMMER?

    Kevin is right you have to be in the CM subsystem and have access to
    the OA Application to run the script. After an upgrade the MANAGER
    account is the only account that meets this criteria so make sure you
    are there. Make sure also that you do really want to run the script
    since it contains only "suggested resolutions" they may not be the
    ones you want.

    Jan is also right about CMS - the requirement for this to do MBE and
    ME operations in CM is documented in the "Using Customisation
    MAnagement Guide"

    Thanks for prompt reply!
    Regarding the CM MBE option, any workaround to do the same task without
    using this CM MBE option ? Of course, besides having to redo the
    customization.
    Thank you.
