1151.0. "Invalid VBN in DAF.DAT" by KAOFS::D_STREET () Thu Jul 30 1992 17:49

    Hello,
     I have a customer who got an error during the TRU housekeeping
    procedure. It complained that a users DAF.DAT's "File attributes not
    matched". The user then did an anal/rms on the file, and received the
    following:

    	Attempt to read block with invalid VBN 11
        Unrecoverable error in structure of file

     I suggested getting a backup from a time before the error, but the
    customer was concerned about messages received since the backup. Is
    there a way to rebuild a DAF.DAT file?

1151.1We have a tool somewhere !KAOFS::R_OBASThu Jul 30 1992 18:274

     Derek, we have a tool to fix rms corruption.It's somewhere there.
     I'll be in the office in a while. I don't know if it will work but
     we can try. It worked before.
1151.2Aussies have the kit :-)GIDDAY::SETHIMan from DownunderFri Jul 31 1992 09:5913
    G'day Derek,

    I have the tool so if you are having problem drop me a line and I'll
    send you the kit. It's for our use only the customers cannot have a
    copy of it.

    It's repairs 99.99% of the problems how ever I came across a problem it
    could solve, I managed to get around the problem using other means.
    Please note it will delete corrupted record(s) out of the DAF.DAT.

    Good luck,

    Sunil
1151.3DAF.DAT is SEQUENTIAL formatKAOFS::D_STREETTue Aug 04 1992 16:386
    Thanks for the tool Sunil, but when I logged on I discovered that the
    file was SEQUENTIAL, not PROLOG 3!!

    Has this been seen before, and can it be recovered from?

1151.4$CONVERT/FDLIOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeTue Aug 04 1992 19:495
    It's probably the result of someone editing it...

    Can't you just $CONVERT/FDL it with the PDAF.FDL in OA$LIB?
