1145.0. "Distributed file-sharing license" by MLNAD0::ALLIN1 () Thu Jul 30 1992 09:42

When I did an index for listing available drawers (IDR), I could see
the remote drawer entry in the index, but got the following message when
trying to read the drawer information:

* Drawer could not be accessed:
* Reason: Remote server is not licensed to export information

I know that the appropriate license is required, but where can I get one
- is it included in the internal kit like FMS, MRGATE etc ? - I guess not
otherwise it would have been registered at installation time.

Please can you provide a pointer if this information cannot be published.

    Dear Anonymous,

The licence you require is called A1-DIST-SHR and will ship as the
ALL-IN-1 Distributed Sharing Option which was still in Field Test the
last I heard. The license may however be available in VTX for internal
    use only.

I guess this license is now generally available, but I
have a customer who has added this license to his lmf
data and still gets the same error. Do you need to
install the DSO license on ALL nodes or is one node
allowed to allow outward cnx. or is there some checking
to make sure both nodes have the DSO license active?

    Trev,

The License has to be installed on all nodes where you wish to
EXPORT information. If that happens to be a cluster, then all nodes on
that cluster require the license (assuming each node will be running an
    instance of the Filecabinet Server).

This doesn't necessarily mean that the two nodes sharing information
require the license. If NODEA has drawers shared with NODEB, but in
turn NODEB never shares anything with any other nodes, then NODEA is the
only place where the license needs to reside. This is because NODEA is
the only place where information is being EXPORTED off-node.

The license should be available from the usual places.

    Kevin.
(PS - Don't forget to stop/restart the server after loading the
    license!)

Hi all!

>I guess this license is now generally available,

I am an EDU instructor and I asm going to deliver the 3ALL-IN-1 V3.0
Technical Update" course to a group of Italian customers.

-	Can anybody tell me if and when the DSO is/will be available for the
	ITALIAN LLV for customers?

-	I was told there is a specific documentation coming with the license,
containing some updates to the standard documentation: is it true? How
can I get a copy for internal use?

Regards
						Mario

I'm sure that the DSO licence works for all languages. For an
*INTERNAL* system you could get one from VTX and try it.

However, I don't know how it is sold in your country, you'd need to ask
    someone locally.

1145.7Where is the DSO doc?AIMTEC::WICKS_ALiverpool 4 Norwich 1Fri Nov 20 1992 16:338
To add a little to what I said in A1INFO - I don't know how you
get a copy of the documentation without ordering it from SSB.

perhaps some kind person could mail you a copy.

    regards,
