I have read all of the notes that I could find discussing archiving and optical
disks, but still do not have a clear picture.

Can we support archiving to an optical disk??  Ours or somebody elses.  If the
particular drive can handle deleting files, will this work.

I know that I can backup an archived area to optical disk, but I want to use the
optical disk as my archive area.

What is the real scoop?

    Hi,
    
    As you say this has been discussed a few times before. It crops up in
    our futures list, but never high enough to get done. We keep hoping
    that some brave soul will pilot this for us and provide the feedback
    for a definitive answer.
