1117.0. "WPS-PLUS to WordPerfect / WPCORP MR Mailbox" by COSME3::SYSTEM () Fri Jul 24 1992 14:17

ALL-IN-1 V2.4 / VMS V5.5 / WordPerfect Integration
--------------------------------------------------

I've looked around to see if any other notes are relevant but nothing quite
hits the spot.

We have a Digital SME site running with the WPCORP/A1 integration. WPS-PLUS is
*not* linked with A1.

When we send stuff out, it all gets converted from WPCORP to ASCII:

David Cohen @UCG

In MRMAN ..

UCG     Route=@DIGITAL
DIGITAL Replace=@RDGMTS@WPC

So, the message first goes through the WPC mailbox, gets converted to ASCII,
and routed to RDGMTS (the UK Messaging hub). On our system OA$MTI_TRNS is set
to "1". All OK so far.

Now, when someone sends from a Digital MTS ALL-IN-1 site which had WPS-PLUS,
to the Digital SME site the address is:

David Cohen @RHC@REO

@REO is used as not all MTS sites recognise RHC. So the mail eventually comes
into our site. MRMAN lopks like this:

COHEN,DAVID Replace=COHEN_D@A1@WPC

So, incoming mail gets route to the WPC mailbox. It gets processed by it OK,
as the entry is in the log file, but it *doesn't* get converted from WPS-PLUS
to ASCII. The WPC mailbox conversion table, looks like this:

#00000000000! WPC Mailbox File Conversion Table
#00000000001! USER_AGENT      IN_TYPE       OUT_TYPE
#00000000002!---------------------------------------
*             A1              *             TEXT
*             MRGATE          WPCORP        TEXT
RDGMTS        *               WPCORP        TEXT

We *have* had this working, but I don't know why it's not now.

All help appreciated.

David.

1117.1Some ideas - no answersLARVAE::JORDANChris Jordan, TSE - Technology Services, End-User ComputingMon Jul 27 1992 10:1019
    I doubt if WPCORP can translate from WPS-PLUS - although they could
    from DX.

    It might be that you had it working as some of internal sites might
    still have OA$MTI_TRNS set to 1... so do the translation to ASCII at
    send time.

    Shouldn't the IN_TYPE coming in from the outside world be "TEXT" or
    "DX" or "WPS-PLUS" or something OTHER THAN WPCORP??
    Shouldn't the OUT_TYPE from the outside world be WPCORP rather than
    TEXT??

    Is TeamLinks involved here?? Is it setting up the documents with the
    correct WPCORP, or is it labelling them WO or WP or WP5 or something
    other than WPCORP?

    Is the order of the table correct??

    Cheers, Chris
1117.2LARVAE::COHEN_DA pint! That's nearly an armfulMon Jul 27 1992 12:2217
    Chris,

    Thanx for comments.

    IN_TYPE for RDGMTS is correct at WPCORP - everything that goes *OUT* of
    here is in WPCORP - the message goes from A1 to MR - into the WPC
    mailbox and then out into another MR mailbox, and onto the remote MR
    (in this case RDGMTS in Reading).

    I'm sure that outgoing WPS-PLUS can be translalted to WPCORP - I don't
    think you can go the other way though.

    OA$MTI_TRNS is set here too, but it doesn't translate attachments!!

    TeamLinks is *not* involed at this site.

    David.
1117.3Isn't MR-XLATE a solution???KETJE::CAPPELLEMANSThe Dark side of the \FORCEMon Jul 27 1992 16:5310
Hello,

did you think of evaluating MR-XLATE to control conversions? You can then
convert whenever you want to. It will also allow you to translate
the attachments.

I implemented such a configuration at a customer site, and it works great.

Best regards
Pierre
