1086.0. "Problem with posting to MR on local node (V3.0)" by FORTY2::BRIDPORT (It's only ME.) Tue Jul 21 1992 09:53

	Hello,

I have just upgraded my ALL-IN-1 V2.4 to V3.0 on a single node.
This was installed with Mail Directory support (OA$DDS_PRIME=2)

For some reason, the installation had problems adding the DDS
entries for the UA and MANAGER subscriber and the installation
gave information as what to do post the installation. The info
it gave showed the building of a new UA with a name of OAn$<node>$ALLIN1
and then add it to DDS with the command 'ADD DDS BUILD_OBJECT/LOG'
I am pretty sure that it should read 'ADD DDS BUILT_OBJECT/LOG'.

Anyway, the IVPs completed correctly but when I try to send mail to a
remote node using the MR on the node with ALL-IN-1, the mail doesn't
	get sent *:-(

When I try to do the postinstallation task '<do oa$lib:useragent_post'
	I get the error message:

	>>>> The user agent is unknown in the mail directory

My DDS UA object looks like:

> MBMAN S3.2 (BL5.27)
>MBMAN> show dds ua/name=*/ful
>
> Name : OA$KZANOL$ALLIN1
> Master copy owning node : KZANOL
> Access Time : 20-JUL-1992 11:43:08.88

My DDS MANAGER object looks like:

>MBMAN> show dds sub/sur=manager/ful
> Surname : MANAGER
> Name : MANAGER
> Unique subscriber identifier : OA$KZANOL$ALLIN1
> Proxy user agent : OA$KZANOL$ALLIN1
> Master copy owning node : KZANOL
> Access Time : 20-JUL-1992 11:44:02.14
> Update Time : 20-JUL-1992 17:27:28.96
> DDSID : 21280A800095DDAA27B295172DA80000

I suspect that I have incorrectly built these objects. Does anyone know
what commands I should use in MBMAN to build the objects correctly.

	Many thanks,
	Nigel.

Limited knowledge is dangerous, but have you checked that the MANAGER
and UA ALL-IN-1 entry have matching DDS ids , and UAPASSWRD is set
    correctly ?

Do it matter what the password is for the UA when it is added manually
	after the installation of ALL-IN-1?????

1086.3Right about BUILT/BUILD - Thanks!IOSG::PYEGraham - ALL-IN-1 Sorcerer's ApprenticeTue Jul 21 1992 14:0614
    Re .0

Your comment about BUILT vs BUILD object is correct. We have it right
in three out of the four places in the code, I'll make sure it becomes
    four!

    Re .-1

Not knowing much about DDS, but if you add the object manually, then
surely you need to tell ALL-IN-1 what the UA details are?

    Thanks,

The fact that your remote mail messages are not getting sent is nothing to do
with DDS, but is probably something to do with a password mismatch on the A1
mailbox. Did the installation successfully add the A1 mailbox? If it did go to
SM MM and use CMP to change the mailbox password, this option will reset the
password in ALL-IN-1 and MRMAN. Does this help?

As far as setting up DDS is concerned I would suggest you delete the UA and
manager entries using MBMAN add then build them again, then go into ALL-IN-1
call form UAPASSWRD ( <form UAPASSWRD/mode=add )and fill in UA name, and the
password for the UA (the one you gave when you built the UA entry in MBMAN).
Having done this remove any DDSid that the MANAGER account already has by doing:-

<write change profil user="MANAGER", ddsid = ""

Set #orgname, #location & #area and then :-

<Do USERAGENT_POST

This should run without errors.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
	Chris.

    Nigel,

Reading the Mail Management Guide would almost certainly have been of
help here and i'm sure that Chapter 3 will be the one that you want to
ensure a successful and happy life running with DDS.

Despite the large number of 'experts' that have already replied I would
recommend blowing away everything and doing it again by the book as it
seems that your USERAGENT object is not fully built as it does not have a
MHS/VMS address part and consequently no SUBSCRIBER objects will be
built correctly and it's really down hill from there.

Page 3-10 section 3.3.2 is the one you need. I'm sure IOSG have at
    least one copy.
